    Cam selection

So I've had my '93 K2500 6.0/4L80 combo going for several months now. Runs great, love the swap. It had a random lifter noise that would come and go randomly. Last time I drove it, it came, but didn't go. So you know what that means.

Now, I don't drive it very often as it's mainly a bad weather/hauling/towing/mud slinging/exploring/etc rig, but if I'm gonna tear it down for lifters I may as well put a little better cam in it. May even pull the whole engine and just reseal it all for that matter.

So my question is which cam should I go with? Also, anything else I should do while I'm at it? Will definitely take the heads to a machine shop to be checked at least, but should they be "touched" at all in terms of more power?

It's a '93 RCLB K2500 (6 lug) 4x4, the drivetrain is stock '05 6.0/4L80E/261 with a simple cold air intake and Flowmaster muffler. I don't want to lose low end because of what I use it for, wouldn't mind gaining a bit more lope either which I know caters to higher in the RPM band, though. I have read that the valve springs tend to limit cam options too, and of course I don't want to spend too much money either.

    Any advice? Thanks.

While the heads are off and at the machine shop have them milled them down .020" or so...i ordered a new cam for my build and I'll be selling the one I have now (comp 218/226 .595/.605 113). It would run really well in your set up and give a nice lope
