    Meth?

U have a 2004 lm7 with a set of more or less prc 2.5 heads milled. 018 with a match intake manifold, tr 220 cam on 114 lsa. Im going to be runnin a cxracing 76mm turbo with a 1.15 AR. Im hoping to push 10-12 psi on 91a octane "- all we got here" im wondering if adding meth would be worth it?

Methanol helps if you have a heat issue or octane issue.
Most use it as a safety thing.

Low octane to begin with. 10-12 might not be a good idea.
Start low and flow a d walk up on it.
Otherwise it will be short lived.

Your best option would be to take a trip down to Tucson or Phoenix. Bring back 100 gallons or so of 100octane fuel. Then mix 2 gallons of 100 with 8gallons of 91 which would result in about 94octane. You only drive that truck 3000 miles a year. Assuming 10mpg you will go thru about 60 gallons of 100octane per year. Thus saving you from needing to pay for a meth system or fluid. If you feel like you need more than 94 oct then up the fuel mixture with more 100 until satisfied. Right now there is a shell station in Phoenix selling 100 octane for about $4.80/gallon. A place in tuscan even does 4.50 when you buy more than 5 gallons. Though it varies with up to 7.99$/gallon.

isn't this the point of the form? to ask questions. and i try and research but i dont currently have the internet at home so i have to on my 15 min lunch break. neways im going to have it live tuned by a guy in tucson, im just wondering if meth would be worth it. i plan on starting out around 7 psi for now then slowly upping it. i wan to try and get 10-12 psi i understand its hard with 91 but i also know meth will cool, and allow more timing to be added but is it safe to rely on it?

if you go with a meth kit go with a good quality kit. A good kit doesn't use push lock fittings or nylon tubing

There is no doubt meth is cheaper than race fuel, but it costs what $600 minimum for a proper setup? The cooling effect is also great, buy I feel like the extra complexity isn't worth it for this build. 12lbs+ I could fully understand the desire for meth, but for a 6-8lbs I don't see it as necessary. A little higher octane fuel will make it work just fine. A good tune should make it run well and safe without needing meth on top of it.

12psi in my experience netted me 130 mph traps..........12 psi on a small turbo will create heat that isn't needed in the motor. race gas is more expensive in the long run then a meth kit
