Some wiring questions? 5.3 swap in 94 OBS

Going on ahead with my 5.3 swap in my 94 Chevy truck. Has a/c and a built 4L60e. These are the two main things I want to keep.

So will the 2001 5.3 computer run my factory a/c and/or 94 4l60e trans. Or am I best off converting the 01 harness for stand alone and keeping the plan of using my 94 computer to control them?? If thats the case do I need to keep any of the 01 trans wires or a/c wires in the harness?

I know my 94 ecm just needs tps signal and something else to work the trans properly.

    Some help please?

    Thanks everyone.

im not sure on the ac but as far as i know your computer will normally have to run both the motor and tranny. so you cant use your 94 pcm for the motor/trans. so you will have to use the new pcm and it will have to be programmed for it. is this the stock tranny or did you buy it because im pretty sure the 60e started in 95.... if its your stock trans, i would make sure its a 60e. if not then, your new pcm wont be able to control it.

94 is a electronic 4l60 trans. = 4L60E Alot of people do carb swaps from tbi and just add a tps sensor so the computer controls it. I waz hoping to do the same with my LS swap and just convert the 01 harness I have to standalone.

I like your swap thread. Glad I read through it, I have the same motor mount adapters so atleast I know now to notch the clam shell. Oh and it also suks about the pan hanging down so low, my truck is 5/7 static drop. Probably just going to modify my pan and pick up tube.

Once I have the wiring part planned out I am going to do my swap.

Not sure the new PCM will be able to control the '94 trans. Check this link out. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm just throwing it out there.

ah yes. the link mickey posted is what i was thinking about. your right its and electronic but i knew there was something diff about the 94 and earlier and that is it. you may be able to get a TCM to controll it but dont quote me on that. i know nothing about those or how they work. might be worth looking into tho.

im glad you like my thread. and im glad my pics with of the motor mounts helped you. i knew someone else was gonna run into that.

also how do you plan to modify the pan? just cut a section out of it and weld it back up? do you know how to weld aluminum? i dont otherwise i would probably go that route. how much you think it would cost to have somone do it? would it be worth my time or should i just get the fbody one for 200-250?

I have a friend with a TIg wlder, he wont charge me but maybe $30 to do it or I can just got to my uncles and use his tig. I can weld pretty good

I bet if u cut and section the pan yourself, it would probably cost less then $50 to have it welded but they gotta be good so u got no leaks. There was a horsepower episode or one of those shows on powerblock where they sectioned and modified there oil pan for almost the same reasons.

H*ll will freeze before I pay over $100 for a stock f body pan.

I have been google searchin my ars off today. Found thread on this forum where a guy has got the trans harness from a 95 up obs and a solenoid was swapped in the valve body for the LS PCM to be able to control the older 4l60e.

I have read a few threads where some guys had swapped tbi to carb and they said as long as the 94 computer sees TPS, VSS and basicly tach signal it will still run the trans as normal.

Couldnt this be done as well on my 5.3 swap as long as I get the ls computer tuned and make the harness 4 wire hookup standalone. That way the LS computer controls the engine only and the stock 94 computer will still control my trans and a/c?

    In theory , right?? LOL

Eventually the truck is going to get a T-56. Thats not in the budget right now.

    Thread links.
