water temp

i have a autometer water temp gauge and i made a T to the hoses that used to go thru the TB and the temp sender is on that t my question is basically can those temp senders crap the bed becasue its not reading anything and i know that its def hot and should read... also i hooked it up to my trans temp gauge which works fine and that had no readin either but when i hooked up the trans temp wire to the water temp gauge the gauge worked so i know that its hooked up fine and working... should i justy get another temp sender?

If that sensor has only one wire, it will have to have the base (threaded part) grounded to work. Just a thought.
