Does anybody have a set of pull out 4.8 pistons for sale or ls7 lifters? Lifter tick is getting worse by the mile, and if I'm gonna go thru trouble to change the lifters, may as well pull the motor and freshen it up since it has 180k on it. I'd like to swap in some 4.8 pistons while I'm at it also.

I would say with 180k miles the bottom end is just getting broken in, but if you are set on doing it the 4.8 flat tips is a great way to raise the compression. Should be fun good luck.
Do a cam springs and hardened pushrods etc while your at it.

I've got a cam and pushrods already. Need springs. I know that 180k is just broken in but I'd like a little more compression, and there really isn't a reputable machine shop around here to shave the heads.
How about milling your heads or some 243's. I'd rather do that then take out, take apart, and rebuild the bottom end.
A few months ago I took out a 5.3 out of a Yukon XL that had 120K on it and it was amazing how little wear there was. I was actually mad I took it apart.
