How To: Wideband Install Guide for NNBS

So I thought I would take some pictures while I installed my wide band. They are pretty straight forward but maybe someone will get help from this. First off this is a guide and you are ultimately responsible for your own truck. My truck is a 2010 LS extended cab so it may vary slightly depending on year or trim package and the wide band you choose.

First off you need to decide where to mount your gauge. I went with a piece in the door from a member on PT.net

To pull the door panel there are several 10mm bolts you will need to remove. Just take your time pulling the panel off and you wont damage any of the plastic clips around the perimeter of the door.

When Wiring everything up I took pictures of it just to remember how I matched the colors up for future reference. Also I do not have a reason for analog signal currently but added wires to it and ran them through the door at this time anyway. That way I don't have to do the job twice if I decide to pick up HP tuners.

Now to get the wires through the door I used the rubber loom but I was not able to get the sensor plug through it so I to a razor and just cut about a 3/4" slit on both ends. I then pulled wire through the grommet ran through some heat shrink and then pushed through the other grommet into the cab

For the Ignition 12 volt I found this power distribution box to the upper left and behind the brake peddle. I went through the open pins with a multimeter and found one that comes on with the key and off just like the radio. I then took a butt splice trimmed away the insulator at one end and pinched it to be tight on that terminal. For the ground I put a ring terminal and used one of the bolts under the dash fuse box.

For the Light dimmer on the gauge I tapped into the Yellow wire that goes up to the dic buttons since this the interior light power source.

Now to get the sensor wire out of the cab I pulled up the carpet in the drivers floor pan. There is a grommet for the parking brake cable here. Once again I just cut a slit in this big enough to get the plug through and then put the sensor into the bung in the exhaust. I used a AEM no weld band. Drill a 13/17 to 7/8 between the 10 and 2 o'clock position in your exhaust. Put the band on the exhaust and thread in your sensor.

And my final product is below. As mentioned before this is just a guide and may not be the "best" way but works great for me. Just be sure to keep your wires from rubbing against steel and secure them with zip ties. Now I just need to replace my windshield......

Nice write up. I brought my wiring down through the same grommet on my 99.

What app is that on the iPad?

Thanks so much for making this write up!! A wideband is the next thing on my list for the truck, I bought the HPtuners Pro but didn't buy the wideband. Not that it matters or anything but that power distribution center you tapped into is for your trailer hookups, electric trailer brakes and so on. The door mount looks good too, nice job!!

Plx has one. I used innovate ot-2 from summit. Gauge is innovate mtxl so with a additional cable u can data log the wideband with the rest of the parameters.
