NO.
There is no T56 4x4 trans... unless you want to fab up an output shaft ($$$or an adapter for the T-case and a custom input gear ($$$
.
If you're hell bent on a manual, get a ZF 6 speed. Gears 2-5 are decently close and it's a VERY strong unit. More-so than a T56 IMO. 1st gear is silly low so it'll be basically useless unless you're pulling a house down.

Yeah I knew there was never a 4x4 T56 offered, but I figured there was a way to get it in there.Originally posted by Hit Man X@Jun 20 2005, 03:12 PM

Why wont the T56 bolt to the transfer case? I thought that the auto tranny connected to the TC by way of a short drive shaft. Im pretty familair with the 4x4 system, thats why I didnt see a problem with the swap. Guess I dont know as much as I thought.Anyway, what is different between the ZF and the T56?
Thanks
Nick
Output shafts are different, length of them.
ZF is far stronger, it comes in 1 ton trucks...

Nah, that ZF has been a 6 speed since the mid to late 1990s. Older ones were 5 speed units. The 1st gear will silly low around 4.40:1 I think it was. Gas and diesel ones have different ratios too... usually the gas ones have a lower 1st gear to make up for the lesser torque.Originally posted by SUBURBAN95NI@Jun 26 2005, 10:47 PM

So this ZF is the same tranny that was in the C4 and the 93-? I figured that since the T56 is newer it would be better than the ZF.
Well when I do decide to do the swap I will check out the ZF.
Do you have any sources for rebuilt or new ZFs?

Nah, they used T56 also. ZF is a truck trans. ZF is FAR stronger than a T56.Originally posted by SUBURBAN95NI@Jun 28 2005, 12:12 AM

Check local boneyards, ebay, etc. Older 5 speeds are cheaper.
