Hey everyone, long time no talk!

How's everyone doing? I haven't been in here in a long time! Not sure how many remember be. Anyways swapped the 4.3 for a LS6 in my 2000 RCSB a year or so ago and still haven't finished it... got fed up with it and it's been off the road for 3 years or so, so I haven't really needed the truck. Had it running and everything but had clutch issues with it not disengaging. Used a LS6 flywheel with a 4.3 clutch and NV3500 trans. Truck started good but the clutch wouldn't disengage. Turns out the LS6 flywheel used with the T56 is much thinner than the 4.8L/manual trans flywheel... anyway finally located a 4.8 flywheel and clutch assembly and put it in. Then the damn starter contacts the flywheel! Even the housing drags, and the pinion is engaged more than a 1/4" on the flywheel with just the starter bolted up... after trying every starter available for the LS engines I gave up and planned on getting back into it in the spring. Can't figure out what is causing my issue. Must be the starter holes in the block are different from the LS6 aluminum block than the 4.8 cast block. My shop foreman's son has a S10 he wants to swap a 5.3/5-speed in and heard somewhere to use the flexplate spacer from GM performance used with the 4L80E tranny's with the SBC engines. It's 3/8" thick so it should work perfect! The truck is stored at a co-workers place for the winter so once the great Canadian winter has ended I'll get it back to work and throw it in and it should be good!

Your starter issue is weird. I just used a regular 5.3 starter. I ran the part numbers and they're the same whether it's 5speed or auto. Oh well just go T56.

Oh and if you wanna run, I'm gonna be fair. Those numbers in my sig are with the bottle closed.

If I can find a T56 before spring for a good price I'm gonna go for it. I know the starter issue, pissed me off so much I just gave up for a while!

Nice numbers! All I need is one 243 head to get that LS6 back up to a "true" LS6 (had the 317s on when I planned to turbo it, that plan isn't there anymore) so the compression ratio is a bit lower than a stock LS6 right now...

Had your truck to the track yet? You're still running the 3500 right?

No mine never seen the track. By the time I got all the bugs worked out Cayuga and Grand Bend were closed. But I'm taking it down to San Antonio in 3 weeks for the shootout. Flew down last year. Yeah it's still got the 3500 running a Centerforce clutch in front of it, it's actually fun to drive. But I'm going t-56 this summer.
