The difference between winning and losing, is having a 2nd stage.
I'm sure the block is fine sounds like a rod bearing. I'll pull the motor next weekend and look at it

I have a 4.8L shortblock I'd sell for about $300
~ Forged engine of some type ~ Ball bearing turbo of an unconfirmed size ~ 4L8000 trans ~ Beefy fuel system ~
Do you have cats? If you do start their mine sounded like the bottom was coming out of my motor. Beat on them with a hammer while it's running and see if it changes. Just my 2cents I bought a new 5.3 because I thought that's what it was.
I'll keep that motor in mind I wanna tear mine apart first to see how bad it is
And no I don't have cats, but that did happen to a buddy of mine
