I have a 2001 sierra 5.3 with 115k on it and it has a major i'm sure it's a piston slap it will go away after two or three min. Of running but it's so loud it's embarassing to have a rattling chevy that sounds like a diesel, so sad to say! I love chevys and the 5.3 but if i'm going to trade it out i'd like to step up to the 6.0! What would i have to change to do the coversion? Would i have to change the computor or harness? From the sounds of it, it will bolt right in, someone said that the y pipe maybe diffrent??? Again dont know!
Or can a newer 5.3 be installed and just up grade the cam ect to get a bit more power! Any idea whats the best way to get rid of that darn slap?
I know people say dont worry about it but it just run it. But it's an image thing can't have a rattling chevy!
