    hey everone keeps sayin that 99's are "dogs" but my freind who i bought my truck off of .. he went to iraq and hadto sell it so i bought it off him... well anyway hes back now and he found another 99 and he says that mine was faster than the one he has now. i dunno what the deal is but does anyone else not have a "dog" 99????

    NELSON 93 hot tune, 02 PCM, VOLANT Ram air intake, MSD wires, ACdelco iridium plugs , Edelbrock ceramic shorty headers, jegs off-road y pipe, Dynamax int pipe, 3" Magnaflow Exhaust with turndown, EGR removal, throttle body bypass, vette servo, long servo pin, performance 4th apply piston, B&M shift kit, SLP 160* thermostat, LS1 Fans, NELSON harness, ported and polished throttle body (did it myself, for free lol)..... _______? cam is next as soon as i stop spending all my money

    They definately are not as slow with tuning, but before it wasnt that bad. The 01-02&#39;s are much faster, but 99&#39;s are the slowest of the bunch. I am getting my 02 PCM in tomorrow, that is supposed to cure most of the false knock problem and speed it up a alot&#33;

    99&#39;s had a different cam and smaller injectors than any other year. And a crappy PCM that loves to pull timing.

    why does everyone want an 02 pcm for their 99??? whats the difference between the 01 and 02 pcm&#39;s?

    old mod list: H/C/I/N/E/G 408
    new mod list: 5.3, gears/posi, mufler and tune : (

    The &#39;01 and &#39;02 PCMs are the same. The reason to replace the &#39;99 PCM is because the &#39;99 & &#39;00 PCM&#39;s were prone to retarding timing due to false knock. The newcomer PCM&#39;s are much better.
    No more trucks, but this is what I used to have. 2000 GMC Sierra, 6.0L-LQ4, Built 4L60, LS6 Cam, The Other Guys Headers, 3 inch exhaust and 7 chamber flowmaster, 43lb injectors, Nelson Tuning, Drop - 3/4 McGaughys Spindles, Bell Tech Shackles & Hangers. Best time 13.59 @ 106

    Got my 02 PCM in yesterday and can defiantely tell there was much more power in that thing&#33; I still think it could stand a bit more timing, but that will come later.

    Yup, 99s stock can barely get out of their own way. The biggest thing for them is the tune, makes a HUGE difference. I was amazed how much better my &#39;01 ran STOCK as opposed to my &#39;99 did with bolt ons.
