    bstill's Garage

Finally made some progress on a project of mine. It ain't the purdiest but I'm more of a functionality kinda guy.

Got the 5.3 in but have some problems with alignment.

    Driver's side:

    Passenger's side:

I think that I'm gonna unbolt the frame mounts, modify where needed and bolt/weld them back in place. Or maybe fab some up.

The oil pan is going to be a problem.

Since the Blazer is going to be primarily for rock crawling and trail riding, I need to do something about the oil pan. With the truck pan, a skidplate would be too low so I'm leaning towards buying a steel pan that doesn't sit so low or maybe an f-body pan with a skidplate.

I still have a ways to go, but it'll be fun gettin' there.

I found this on LS1tech. Good info on oil pans.

These are the only other pics I have. They're cell phone pics from the guy I bought it from. I'm really bad at remembering to take pictures of stuff.

On the back glass it says mountian krew. The guy that put the decals on obviously can't spell mountain. Oh, and the tribal decals are already gone. I thought they were hideous.

Well, made some progress. Got it running but couldn't get the skip out of it. Tried everything I could think of, swapping plugs, plug wires, coils, connection to coils, but nothing helped. My dad was there helping and we figured it had to be internal. It was. One missing push rod, 4 bent push rods, and a lifter that came apart. Not what I wanted to see. Took the head off to replace the lifter and exploded lifter tray and noticed a bent valve. Luckily I had a set of heads laying around so I swapped valves.

Got it back together and it runs great. Drove it around the field and started overheating. No belt. The power steering pump decided to lock up and throw the belt. Wth! It was getting late so I parked it.

Got a new pump but haven't installed it yet. When I get it on I can drive it back to do the exhaust. I'll take some pictures this weekend and post em up.
