4.88 question
just got new 35 trail grapplers last week, which made my 3.73's un-bareable. truck is a 94 with the stock 10 bolt. is it safe to run 4.88's? i have read conflicting info about it not being strong enough due to ring gear size? i dont do any mudding or off-roading, just want to tow better and get going better. thanks

488 are a good gear for that tire height. Weak point is actual size of the ring gear but if Your just a pavement warrior you'll be fine

dont see any hard core driving in the near future, trails to the good riding spots should be about it. would 4.88's tow better than 4.56's? the ringpinion.com calculator shows it should work good, just dont know if their rpm calculator factors in rpm drop from the tc. thanks

how hard would it be to find yourself a good used 12-bolt on craigslist? You might get lucky and find one with gears in it....worth a look

havnt even considered a 12 bolt. is it a bolt in swap? i searched forever for a 14 bolt, cause thats what i wanted. tryin to find a 6 lug 14 bolt locally didnt happen and shipping and rebuilding one got out of my budget fast.

quick search came up with this, seems like a good deal if it would work. id feel much better upgrading if i could
