    1994 Chevy 2wd 4.3 to a 98 5.7 vortec

This is probally the wrong forum but I'll be if I can find what I'm looking for. I have a 94 short box with a 4.3 and a 4l60E with a ton of miles. Excellent body but loaded with miles. I also have a 98 5.7 I would like to install with a carb. Can someone point me to a forum were someone has done this swap?

    Thanks Much

This site is pretty much all ls based conversions... HOWEVER

your swap is pretty straight forward. Unbolt trans. Pull motor. Rip off intake on 5.7. Put carb'd intake on. Get an older vacuum advanced distributor (aftermarket like accell/msd/mallory/etc or from early 70's oem). You will most likely need the bellhousing off a V8 4l60e. Most of the 4.3's (atleast in s10s) had a different one. Being a fullsize you MIGHT not have to worry about it.

The frame should have the correct holes for the v8 motor mounts (they may actually be in same spot as the 4.3). A 4.3 is just a 5.7 that is missing 2 cylinders. Everything else is identical. Your accessories should even transfer over. Oil sending unit/ coolant temp sensor/ etc are all the same, so just plug them in, and you should be good to go.

You will have to get an aftermarket TPS for the carb to control the trans. Edelbrock makes one fairly cheap (and if I'm not mistaken is designed to work with the 4l60e). OR find a 700r4 (that is vacuum instead of electronic) and you're good to go.

We did the efi to carb conversion on my buddies 97 w/ a 5 spd manual. Took about 6 hours. Was pretty simple. The trans is going to be your biggest problem.
blown transmissions are about as useful as 97% of the guys on this forum

You shouldn't have any problem with the transmission fitting up. I swapped the 4.3 in my 92 for a 5.7 about 5 years ago and everyting bolted right up and has been doing fine ever since.
