Back into a Z71

Hey, just a general note. Seems I'll be getting back into a Z71 Silverado. I pick it up on Saturday. It's an '06, black, EC/SB, with all the fixings. It is one of the 25% (I understand) which came with the L33 engine. Anything good or bad I should know about this truck? This will be the third Z71 I've owned. First was an '00 Silverado, the second was an '04 Suburban. Anyway, thought I'd share. I'll see if I can post some pics after I have it in my posession.

LOL! Yah, that extra 15hp should be just enough to feel it in the seat-of-the-pants dynomometer I'm surprised in a couple of changes I have seen in it which were not present in my Suburban, such as the electric fan. I put a Monster Fan in it and wondered why GM hadn't done something like that already. I also saw they went with the vacuum brake booster instead of the hydraboost (I think is what it's called) which the Burban came with. Stupid thing leaked ... only thing bad I ever really had to say about it.

my 06 came with the L33 good motor but bad rings and valves killed it. i just got a crate L33 put back in it i really like this motor just be careful with any bolt ons (headers, ect..) the entire block is aluminum and always use antiseize on any bolts changed or you will strip it out and be rethreading bolt holes

That's what torque specs are for. You should also clean all threads before installing bolts.
