    6.0 swap tuning?

What up guys, I was just wondering if you guys could answer a ? I have in regards to doing a 6.0 swap on my 2001 4.3 sierra, I am carefully planing out my V8 swap because that's all I can do until tax season, I have looked at complete LQ4 and LQ9 dropouts with all wiring and trans, computer and everything, I was wondering if I could just buy the credits with my HP tuners for the 6.0 computer that comes with the engine and unlock the computer to work with my truck, I am wondering if I just disable the vats or what else do you do to make it work and will the DBW work with my 2001 4.3 truck and I know the alternative is just to have them load the tune for that vin into my PCM I have done it before and it worked!

You can use the 2003 DBW in a 2001, but the harness is not going to just plug up like a 2001 would. You would have to modify the AC wiring to make it work and the 03-06 PCM doesn't play nice with the 99-02 chassis computers.

There is no need to disable the VATS since you are putting the engine into a truck with all the VATS equipment. Just do the security relearn. You will need to change the gear ratio/tire size if it isn't the same.

Well it sounds like I will either get a stock 6.0 complete pullout of a 99-2002 or a later one and just use my 99 v8 harness with a 1500hd 6.0 tune becuase it uses a 4l60e with a manual TB still would like to use a LY6 but much more expinsive, and I am not sure how to do a security relearn and you are talking about on the 6.0 PCM?

Search the security relearn. It is simple. The 1500HDs had a 4L80e. You can get someone to do a segment swap to the 4L60e though.

well I guess I could just run a 5.3 tune until it gets the chassis dyno! Thanks for the support!
