    Crank sensor dtc 336

Hi guys, I've got a problem with my truck, it's a twin turbo lsx. I have just done a lot of work moving the fuse box and pcm to under the rear seat, I Have re worked the turbo system and relocated the coils under the headers. I got the truck running ticking over nice and smooth but when I took it for a test drive as soon as it changed into second gear it started missing and running rough and now it will hardly run at all. I got this dtc 336 crank sensor, the sensor itself checks out to be good on a oscilloscope, I also swapped the wires to the sensor with screened ones in case it was picking up interference from the relocated coils.
I'm starting to think the reluctor wheel has moved, which brings me to my question before I dig into it,
Is there any sort of test I could do to prove the reluctor wheel is in
the right position without having to strip the motor down, Is there a
different notch in it or something that relates to number one piston at
tdc that I could see through the sensor hole.

A couple of more questions on this, can a reluctor wheel be used more than once and can they be lined up without specialist tools. thanks

    hi jcb,

i know we already discussed some of this, but for public viewing purposes and maybe to get some tech chat going.

Did the shop use a jig or fixture to ensure it went on the exact way it was removed
    Did you get a 58x or 24x
Your truck needs the black crank sensor, just checking
Are there any marks on the sensor indicating it's been damaged

    Hi farmtruc
The shop said sometimes they have to take them off and some times they don't when they do machine work on cranks and they couldn't remember if they had to with mine as it was so long ago and they also said they didn't have any special tools for the job, they just pull off and press on is what they said.
It's a 24x and if they pulled it off they would have pressed the same one back on, nothing at all was mentioned to me about the reluctor at the time the work was done.
Yep I have the black sensor.
No marks on the sensor at all, still looks brand new.
