this is on a 08' silverado...long story short...truck had a 08' vmax 6.0 that overheated and mest up a piston to begin with.....so we installed my old 4.8 in it...got it started and running fine!!but the damm thing gets hot.we have already tried another thermostat and still gets hot....it starts boiling and throwin the water out the reservoir,like its not circulating.it cant be the motor cuz i never had problems with it before.
any ideas tips? BIG ass air pocket maybe?
radiator might be clogged up or the water pump isnt doing its job...... My guess would be radiator at this point....

yea we mite try gettin the radiator flushed monday...we used the original vmax water pump if that matters.you know when it was hot.i removed the upper hose at the radiator and nothing came out .(while its on)
Sounds like there's air in it. I doubt an 08 would have a bad pump or clogged radiator already.
Try this:
- Pull the coolant crossover hose (is there one on the 08?) off the drivers side head
- Pull the radiator hose off the radiator
- Start the truck
- Add coolant through the radiator hose until it's coming out of the crossover hose nipple on the head
yes it has the crossover tube rite in front....the truck only had 67,000 miles when it blew that 6.0....my 4.8 thats now in it has 11,000 miles,...we tried about 20x to get that air out,it just kept bubbling and spittin back out the reservoir.but .shoot we may try that sequence bro thanks
The nipple on the head is the highest point. Dumping the coolant in the hose forces the air upwards through the system.
I had this same issue and following the above steps fixed it. Hope it works for you.
