Will a 80E from a 00 3500HD diesel truck work on a 5.3?

Far as I know all 4l80es are the same so yes it will work. You need a matching flexplate and spacer. Also the wiring is different. If you already have your 5.3 trans harness then you can bug an adapter harness or repin your harness connector and add a VSS.

Yep got that printed out already and in my binder of things that I've started. I would probably be further along in my swap if it wasn't for the heat. So hot out there I dont even wanna go out there and work on it. lol

I'm pretty sure at least some of the diesel 80e's had much lower stall speed converters. May want to look into swapping it for something that engages a little higher, if it is I'm not sure what your 5.3 will think about stalling at 1500 or so rpm. It would work, but it might also be a little lethargic.
