Ok, I am getting ready to start saving money to do little things to the truck. Just bought a house in October, so I am a little broke. I have an LS1 cam in the garage I want to install for a little extra power. I also want to get Allen's tune. I am not sure what I need to do with the transmission, It has almost 90,000 miles on it, and I havn't even had the fluid changed (I know someone beat me ). My first step is to change the fluid and filter, but after that I am not sure.

    Thanks,
    Randy

For sure would be a good idea to start. While you're in there you could toss in a .500" boost valve... that doesn't require dropping the pan.

A 'Vette servo is a cheap upgrade and a billet OD servo would be good too. That'll prevent 2-4 band burning/slippage.

Obviously a TransGo would be a great idea at this point and a new sep plate, my plate at 85K showed a good deal of wear. Hardened ones are only about $12.

What would be the cost of installing the shift kit, and which should be done first.

    Thanks,

Well you can do it, and you're close to me... so I could lend you a hand. They just take a long time to do in the garage.

Even if you don't do it, I'd get that filter and fluid changed ASAP.

I plan on doing that. Good thing is, I have a company vehicle, so I don't drive the truck but a couple times a month. Would you recomend going to synthetic trans fluid, I have an amsoil dealer just up the street from me. Also, I wanted to say thanks for the quick replies.

I've heard syn makes the 60E slip badly, so I'd steer clear of it. Also, regular ATF is so cheap (DexIII) I change mine in the pan every 10K.

    Sure, I'm usually around somewhere.

Great, I will stick with the regular. I think I am going to try the amsoil motor oil on my next oil change, supposed to be pretty good, even though its expensive.

I've read good stuff about AMSOIL for the motor, I run Mobil 1 myself.

I change the filter every 5K and usually the oil 10-15K depends how I'm feeling lol Each time I change the filter I add a quart so the oil stays pretty clean.

So Hitman did you install your shiftkit servos, and sep plate? About how long do you think a job like that would take?

Also is this a good kit to get (price seems good)

Yup, sure did. It's just a long process making sure everything works properly.

Realistic estimate? 6-9hrs. As you have to eat, take breaks, and you'll get mad. lol

That's a good deal. I get lots of weird parts from www.transmissionpartsusa.com
