    Cam choice opinions

I am going to do a heads&cam upgrade on my '05 Z71 CCSB. I am running a 150 shot of NOS and want to know what some of you think I should do as far as a cam. I know I will have to do a stall converter, so that's already in the budget. Give me some specs on cam and stall.

There are many variables involved in a cam selection. Which 5.3 do you have (flat top or dished pistons)? What is the goal for the truck (any towing or just racing)? Is it going to be a DD? Do you own a dog or a cat? What size gears/tires do you have? How heavy is the truck (any weight reduction)? What is your driving style?

    Not sure on the pistons.
No towing, not much off road, mostly going fast.
    Yes it is my DD.
Dog, small one, rides in the cab.
    3.42's, 20" rims with 285/60/20's
I think the truck is about 52xx lbs.
I'm not in it all the time, I have a light to moderate foot.
    I'm a taurus
I like moon lit strolls by the water
I hate cats (the animal and exhaust)
    My hair is brown
    Anything else?

    COMP CamsŪ - Cam Details

I would do this one with a larger gear and higher stall converter for DD so that I'm not totally dissapointed in the lose of torque down low.

I would do this one if I didn't care at all about low-end performance, but seeing as it will be a DD, I wouldn't recommend it.

For cylinder heads, a nice set of CNCed heads with a preferrably smaller combustion chamber because more compression is always a good thing!

Whoa cowboy--those cams are waaaaaaaaaaaay too big. Like way big. .6xx lift? You kidding???

3.42s on a CCSB Z71 on 20s???? BOOOOOO! Bad combo. But the TR220 and 3k stall will help.

    Cam kit = $600
    Circle D stall = $375

in a 5.3 with stock internals and heads you gotta watch going over 600 lift i believe you cant run a 600 lift in a 5.3 without running into problems. I could be wrong though.

As far as n2o you can get a cam spec'd for it but it wouldnt be as spunky for normal driving. Till you get above a 200 shot you'll be ok with a motor cam most the time
