ATT to TimeWarner phone service swap-question

hey guys, any phone line installers out there?

    gotta question.

i'm probably going to cancel my att phone service, it's just your typical phone service, three lines.

I'm interested in the time warner digital service. Customer service told me that TW will do the installation up to the building. It's up to me or a phone service company to swap my wires to the new box they will install.

My question, is it just a matter of removing my three phone lines from the att box to the new TW box?
If so, I can do that no problem, I have some wiring skillz, haha.

If not, what is the process?

    thanks,
    allen

Ok great, thanks ducky I'll give that a try, hahah jk.

My att analog lines suck!!! every time it rains they get messed up. plus, i'm right in front of an att box, it seems every time they fix something for someone else, my phone lines are jacked.
since i've had the time warner internet service, i've never had an issue with it.
there was downtime for about 5 mins, but it was up before i could make a call.

when i switched to TW phone they didnt have to run any wires to the house. they put a new TW box and changed the wires over. inside they had to plug a phone jack line to the modem to get dial tone, because it runs in the cable. the bad thing is if the cable service goes out your phone will be out to. ive had my service for 2 months no problems yet but only time will tell.

These days, I would look into fiber optics--IF it is available in your area. And fiber optics are only as good as how far they are run to your location. If they are run to a hub 3000' away and it is copper to your location, sure it will be better than the analog, but not as fast as if the fiber optics are run to your location.

If fiber optics CAN be run to the box outside, then it should be no big deal--you can wire the rest in yourself.

the only thing TW is good for is downloading, its really fast and it comes with a pretty price tag once all said and done, been there done that, like mentioned power outage phone line and internet is down, with ATT i had service through both hurricanes

you should still be able to use the phone for about 8hrs or more if not in use, during a power outage, now if TW has an issue with there network then your phone and internet will go out, sometimes the internet still works. the cable modem they give you is an emta does both internet and phone. i know this cause i used to do internet tech support for comcast, i got laid off back in dec.16. now i moved to san antonio and gonna be doing internet tech support for ATT lol.

If you need any help allen let me know my dad does wiring for phone and networks
