i put my obx lt's on today and at first start up their was a loud exhaust leak so it tightened all the bolt on the heads and it sound a little better but it still has a ch-ch-ch sort of sound

i used my stock bolts and gaskets but i didn't use any copper gasket maker would that help any?

btw: Do all lt's make this much freaking engine noise!

What torque sequence did you use? If you start in the middle and work your way out you should be fine. Also, the headers need to hang freely when torqing. Otherwise the flange won't seat against the head properly

Also try a new set of gaskets, and put new bolts in. The stock bolts alot (Obviously not causing your current leak, but this way you won't have to ezout them in the future)

i tightened them all equally until the were just about to the flange and then went from the inside out and the gasket looked band-new

i think ima just pull the bolts and re torque them and ill put some gasket maker on the gasket

they sound good today i think they only leak a little for a few minutes on cold starts

If your header flanges are the same thickness as the factory manifolds, the factory bolts will work fine. The torque sequence is important though.

Actually, even the existing stock metal 3-layer gaskets are the best--unless they are broken or corroded. Unless you break off a bolt or screw up the threads, new ones aren't needed. But its all up to you.

NO gasket maker! If you have probs, just loosen them and retorque. You may have to tighten them down after a few heat cycles. LT's usually have a slight 'tinny' sound. Small price to pay for the added performance and sound.

i went to autozone and bought a brand new set of felpro MLS replacement gaskets for 24.00. re-used stock bolts, but i put a dab of anti sieze on them plus lock washers. say what you like, but i haven't had a single problem after 8k. the only problem was the crossover tube joint. but a 2.5'' stainless band clamp fixed all that

!!for some reason today the motor started to squeak and it sounds like a belt squeak. its coming out the drivers side from between idle and 900rpms

when i try to pin point it i can only hear it at the collector and cant hear it under the hood b/c the engine is to loud. It's pretty loud

    anyone know what is?
