Well for the last week or so my oil pressure has been running about 10 lbs lower than normal (about 60 lbs at 70-75mph). I changed the oil a couple of days ago and today while coming to work it shot back up to normal (70 lbs at 70-75mph) for about 10-15 miles then went back down to 60 or a little lower. So what's the deal anyone experience this before and will I have to tear into her to change out that pump. If so its really going to cost me some bucks cause if I've got to go in I might as well change to a different cam while she's down and also some stiffer springs and such. Well what do yall think should I worry or just blow it off ? The truck has 162,xxx miles on her so maybe its time. I just don't have the cash right now to work on her...Zed

Holy crap dude! Just drop the whole engine and put in an ls1 or 6.0, don't waste any more money or time on that engine unless its a complete rebuild. Save your money for a new engine, cuz new springs, cam, etc plus labor is prolly gonna run ya $2,000. That's 2 grand closer to an ls1 or 6.0 you could have.
I think hwyauto is charging like $1600 for a 6.0.

But, its your call, you may be an engine expert and that thing may be as clean and new as the first day you got it. But if you have driven it as hard as I think you have, that sucker is ready to lay down soon. First its an oil pump, then its something else.

    Just my

10 pounds per 1K rpm is enough. Over 60 is too much if you ask me.
And I would not trust the guage to be that accurate. And a drop in oil
pressure usually means main bearings wearing out, not the oil pump,
the pump usually fails or works.

O.K. I'll keep an eye on it . What pressure does everyone else run at on the stock gauge ? Mine since new has always run just over 60 or above. Oil is Mobil 1 5-30...Zed

Main bearing wear = oil pressure loss also from what I remember.

Well with 160K+ and still over 40psi I wouldn't be worried honestly.
