    Cam choices.

I filled out the recommendation form on Comp's website and this is what they said. Does this sound like the best option?

    User Comments:
Mods so far are cold air intake, custom tune, catback exhaust w/ cat delete,
low temp thermostat. Upcoming mods are a higher stall converter (most likely
2400), 3.73 gears, and headers. I would like some better acceleration but
also to be compatibe with current and upcoming mods. I am running an 89
octane tune but can change to suit the cam.

I like my TR220 (220/220 551 551 112lsa) but it will bring you into 6600-6800 rpm range when shifting WOT and will want a larger stall.

I just installed a Crane cam in my truck. 210/218 .531 lift 114 LSA. It works great for my setup. Tons of torque and a slight lope at idle. It all depends on what you want. If you go bigger you should probably do the stall at the same time. I wanted tons of torque to get my 35" tires moving and to pull my 4500lb boat. This cam is perfect for me. You could definately get away with a larger cam as long as you put a stall in.

Well I'm in the same postion... z-71 EC with 33's and pull a 3000lb. boat. Have sent comp many cam request forms but they never get back to me.

How much horsepower gain we looking at here with the LS1 XR265HR-14?

I have no idea. 50 seems reasonable. I have heard of some guys getting as much as 70 horsepower from a cam.
