    The old CAI question

I'm looking at investing in a CAI, would like for it to have some forced induction on it. Looking mainly at the Vararam and the Volant. Just wondering if anyone had any input.

+1 Go Spectre and dont think too hard about this one. Its probably the cheapest out there, and if you go FI then you may have to change the intake tube anyways. Mine works very well with minimal investment of time or money

the cheaper the better, they all essentially do the same thing. Try playing with filter combos if you want

Don't worry too much about trying to get a ram air effect. You have to have triple-digit speeds before there's a measureable benefit. Just make sure that it receives the cooler outside air and not engine bay air.

Well only reason i was wanting ram air was we tested a k&n against a vararam tripower. Improved 1/4 mile by .9 seconds...

    So the spectre?

To make a 0.9 sec improvement in ET for a typical 5500# truck that runs in the 15's would take 50-60 addtional HP. Do you really think the Vararam adds that much? Please. That's about the same as adding a moderate cam and tune.

Nice and helpful as always some people are. The K&N and VR are both really expensive. Get something better than stock but cheap. Do an Airaid Jr. or make one.
