    Cam specs

What are the cam specs for the lq4 and lq9? Also the vettes? Just looking for some factory used cams for my mild 4.8 build....planning on yellow springs, long tubes and cai, just dont have the cash for a new cam. Thanks for the info.

There's not enough difference to justify using the LQ4/LQ9 cam. It has only 6º more intake duration than your 4.8 cam. The best bet for you if you can't scrape the funds together would be an '02+ LS6 cam and install it with 4-6º advance.

    4.8 190/191 duration
    LQ4 196/207 "
    LS6 204/218 "

    LUNATI LS1-LS2-LS6 212/218 .531/.531 VOODOO CAM #60510

What about this one, what kind of power difference would this make? This plus port polish heads, valve springs, cai and tune.

If you're already buying a new cam, you might as well go with a proven one. That Lunati isn't bad but there are better cams out there.

That's a good choice for a 4.8 in a truck. It has a fairly early intake closing, so you can expect a good power increase across the entire RPM range. Peak power increase over your stock cam should be about 35-40 HP. It has fairly aggressive lobe ramps, so you'll need decent springs. There will be a slight lope at idle. Combine that cam with your other listed mods and you should see about 75 additional HP.

It may give you a higher peak HP number, but that would occur at well over 6000 RPM. You would lose lower-RPM torque, which the 4.8 does not have a lot to spare. The Lunati cam will give you more usable power under the curve.
