    72 C-10 LS1 swap need help

I have a 72 C-10 and could use some help putting in a 99 LS1. I have engine and Tran wiring, computer, fans, fuel pump, and gas pedal. Do I need to get more. What do I need to do about a drive shaft, motor mounts, trans bracket and is there more mods then that? What parts of the wiring can loos all I want is there bear essentials? If someone out there has pics that would be bad ass. Thanks for your help.

My buddy just did this swap in his 70 with a 5.3. I believe he used the CPP motor mounts and they were about 70 bucks but let me find out. He is using a th400 and he didnt need to swap drive shafts or modify the trans crossmember. What trans do you have? As for the harness I would say find yourself a standalone or send yours in to be reworked unless your pretty electrically inclined. The standalone harness will come plug n play all labled with just 5 wires to hook up. Im in the middle of reworking mine and its a PITA. If I had the money(~$500) I would have just bought one lol. As for exhaust I think only Doug Thorley makes a set of headers for this swap and they run about $700. Might just wanna run the stock manifolds.. The fuel system on that is a return system I believe? I would say get yourself a returnless setup and run a regulator w/return if you are starting from scratch. Professional Products has a good regulator for around $100 and find yourself an Aeromotive pump for around $350 or the MSD one for around $100 but I think those are very noisy from what I've heard. Haven't ever used one before so I can't say good/bad on that one.. Any other specific ?'s I might be able to help with??

I believe the 700r4 is slightly longer than the th350 so you might have to just move the trans crossmember back a bit. Can anyone confirm this? As for a harness there are a couple guys selling them on eBay and you can also check out Howe Performance or Turnkey. Those are the ones I know of. Anyone have any other suggestions?

So I talked to my friend last night and you definitely have to move the crossmember back. Also with the 700r4 you will have customize a way for the TV cable to hook up to the throttle body. I believe there is a thread somewhere on here about that too.

You can run '02 f-body longtube headers with minimal modifications to the frame.

Also found out that you can run Kook's headers for a TBSS with the same frame mods.

I think the CPP mounts are about the cheapest you will find. My Early Classic mounts are just a little too far forward and the oil pan hits the engine cradle/crossmember.

hey whats going on im the guy that fullthrottle was talkin about. i got a 1970 c-10 with a 5.3 with an ls1 intake and injectors with a billet fuel rails looks sick. as for the rest of the fuel system i got a OBX fuel pump off of ebay and a OBX fuel filter. (OBX is an ebay brand but i been seeing it more and more on cars at shows n stuff) im going with a stand alone from ebay aswell it really fits my budget lol. your going to have to get a tune to get rid of VATS and the rear O2's ( if you want that is ) i'll get pics up for you soon im in the middle of doing it my self so i'll try to keep you posted as budget permits tho.

and for SCIV how do the long tubs tuck im going to bag my truck so they have to be above the frame rails. i was thinking of getting MAC midlengths since they will prolly sit higher thanks

If you are bagged, the Kooks TBSS won't work. The collector hangs about 1" below the frame rails. I am not sure about the f-body headers.
