    ac wont work at idle

Well ive checked most every thing i can think off, but the ac wont come on at an idle. Once the truck gains some rpm's then the ac will kick on. the only way i can make my ac work at idle is if i go and force it in with efi live, but once i disconnect from real time it just shuts off. any ideas

Seems like George had this problem a while back. You might try searching.

If the idle is too low the PCM won't enable the AC relay.

I see this a lot on old people's Suburban's and trucks and it's caused by a dirty throttle. I know you probably don't have a dirty throttle but check the idle speed anyway. If it's around 500 in gear it won't come on. Not sure the exact spec but it's somewhere close.

GM service information lists a lot of parameters but as far as RPM goes it says anything under 5000 RPM....which is not true.

well right now my idle is like 650-700 and even when i rev it up to like 900 still wont come on. but once i hit the 1k mark the ac will turn on. The motor doesent have problem turn the compressor at my idle either when i lock it in.

I have exact same problem right now

Sometimes it acts like it kicks on for maybe 2secs and then cuts right back off.

Do you have a stock fan or electric fans?

mine does the same...mine is because the idle is too low, when the compressor tries to come on it tries to die and the comp kicks back off, as long as i stay moving it works great....i guess i should just turn my idle up but im lazy and i dont sit in traffic much so mine still works ok

shouldnt have to run the idle up.

I am running an electric fan, but a/c does it whether fan is on or not
and my fan is not wired to turn on with a/c

I'll go out on a limb and suggest there is an adjustment needed in the tune on both problem vehicles then. There is hardly an electrical or mechanical problem I can think of that would make the AC not work below 1000 RPM but work fine above.

I'm not pointing fingers 'cause I don't know who has what tune but it would be worth the trouble to find out the compressor on parameters in the tune.
