will a hot cam hurt my power?

i have a lq4 and a sts turbo kit im putting in my tahoe and i have the front of the motor apart right now to put a new oil pump on it and was wanting to install a "good" sounding cam. i like the gm hot cam and i can get it with a 112, 114 or 116 lsa. i know alot of guys run the zo6 cam with turbos but i want a little better sound at idle. i can also get a zo6 cam with a 114 lsa but i know that would sound just like stock. what do yall recommend? the truck has 15inches of lift, 40inch toyos, built 4l80e with 5.13 gears if that helps.

Are you looking to offroad with the rear mount?

Welcome from Shreveport! Did you ever have a giant Size Matters sticker on your rear window? I used to see a huge green OBS Tahoe all the time with that sticker.
Also +1 on the STS, rear mount and off road could lead to some issues...

You're installing a turbo and swapping the oil pump (you didn't say why) but you want a cam based on sound? Get a 230/236 500/500 on a 108.

yeah i've had that sticker on my truck for a longggg time. oh and as far as offroad, those days are long gone. im replacing the oil pump because the motor has quiet a few miles on it and i've had a few friends that had their oil pumps giveout and as a result spun some bearings. im just putting it all togather on 7psi till i save up enuff to build a stroker. so no-go on the hotcam?? i can get one for $100 thats why i was askin. i know its not the best but will it give me any kind of gain over the stocker?

Actually the Hot Cam would work well for you with the turbo. Its timing events are very similar to the Vinci/Crane 216/224 cam, which works well for FI applications. But the Hot Cam lobe profiles are more aggressive. I would go with the 114 LSA to limit boost bleeding during overlap (unless LA uses a sniffer for emissions testing, in which case go with the 116 LSA). At 7 psi boost you can expect about 60 HP increase over your stock cam.

BTW - I lived in Bossier City many years ago when my dad was stationed at Barksdale.
