    EGR Valve?

i kno what the egr valve does, but is it an important part?? i dont have an egr on my truck cause of the headers. ive read on some sites that the egr helps with idling and acceleration, and that it also allow for better MPG and helps keep the engine cooler. is any of this true???

Read that stuff again. EGR cools the combustion chamber for lower NX emissions and more allowable timing but tweaks on the exhaust lobe profile on the cam can do the same thing hence the swap to no EGR on the last couple years of Camaro along with the swap to them having the LQ9 6.0 cam.
