I know all of you know about it. The potential of these heads on the 5.3's. The guys at Total Engine Airflow out of Bowling Green, Kentucky are doin what they call a Stage 1.5 job on them. Port and Polishing the heads and uppiing the valves to a 2.02 and 1.5 or 1.57. They want roughly $1500 which isnt bad for the end result was just wondering if anyone knew of some other shops doin the same and maybe some prices. Jus curious. Check out the car on his site. Pretty incredible.

Absolute Speed is where I'd get heads done.

2.02" intake is way too big for a 3.78" bore IMO...

I believe all the 5.3's are 9.5 to 1. 10.9 to 1 o2Denali? Can you say HAULIN ASS!? With ...yikes.

Mine were done at More Performance in Charlotte, NC. Ready for this Hit Man X... 2.02 and 1.6 are my valves. Shaved .010 off head. Really just a "clean up" shave. They call them Stage 3 heads. There were fairly expensive, however I bought them out in a package with JE custom pistons and other items so I curved some costs by one stop shopping. Walked away paying $1450 for just the heads.

I think your going to find out that these heads are not going to work as good as you thought. All that porting and those bigger valves are just too much for the 4.8 and 5.3 bore. Dont take my word for it though, you'll find out soon enough. Been there done that. Im not trying to be a jerk about it, the fact is that most companies dont even consider us in the same league as the camaro's, firebirds, etc. and haven't done any testing to confirm what they think works on our motors.

im thinking about 40ponies from them. maybe not. but i am thinking they will work ok. there is a few guys here in town that have similar heads and they have gained with them. yay buddy i am going to give it a try. they will either work or not,but i do beleive that i will not lose any power from them. and if i do go to a bigger motor when this one goes then they will for sure work.

just becuase the companies are marketing 5.3 heads for the ls1 crowd doesnt mean they work well foir the 5.3 crowd even though they are 5.3 heads. the port jobs are designed from the begining to go on f-bodies to raise compression.

look for a company that will dedicate a lil time to test the heads ported specifically for a smaller ci motor.
