need help with 6.0!!!

im about to buy a used 01 6.0 miles xxx,xxx....
what should i do to make sure it wont break down or leak shoud i change all the gaskets?

A little more information on the miles would be helpful.

That said, these gaskets are sealed very well. I wouldn't worry about them unless you are breaking the seal on them. Then with that many miles, I would replace.

I think you can get all the gaskets for an entire engine rebuild for around $350. I would probably do that route if you're going to build the motor at all. If you're just taking it out of one truck and putting it in a different one without putting a cam in it or anything else internally, I'd probably just leave it alone.

maybe put a timing chain in it. I've seen an ls1 that was sloppy at 50k

Yea the chain on my LQ4 was pretty loose when I pulled it off and it only had 107K on it.
