on a 03 drive by wire motor can you use a 700r4 or 4l60 and still use the drive by wire for cruise or do you have to use a 4l60e/4l80e

700R4 requires a lot of tinkering since it's not computer controlled. You must use DBW for cruise unless you convert to cable throttle AND buy the $450 cruise module, $100 cable, etc. An 80E is not relative to a 60/65/70. What are you trying to do....more information gets you better answers.

Cruise or not I wouldn't try to run it with a 700. The DBW isn't the problem it's the fact you need an electronic trans IMO. Can it work without the 4L60E? Yes, but it's more hassle than it's worth. The DBW makes it possible to have cruise on anything even something without factory cruise (yes, this means 03+ DBW trucks made without cruise, all that's needed is a different turn signal/multifunction switch).

You'll still have to rig the switch assuming you're using the all stock wiring harness, TACM, PCM, etc.
