the heads on ur motor are fine. Your motor in your truck is an LS style. The vortec heads that are considered vortec were in the older body style i think 96 to 98? I could be wrong on my years. Any Ls series style head will work on your truck. It all depends on your plans. How much Hp and Trq are you trying to accomplish? you can use your stock intake with the turbo it will work just fine. If your lookiing for around 400hrsp just get a turbo kit going and dont worry about heads or intakes unless your going for more power. oh yea, is your motor a 5.3 or a 4.8?

The heads you are referring to as "Vortec", are they the stock heads are aftermarket? If aftermarket, what are the flow numbers? The stock intake is fine.

You could get some 317 heads (they are off of the 6.0), Trick turbo, 60lb injectors, Walbro or Bosch fuel pump, FMIC, Meth, forged internals would be good insurance, good FI cam (I'd ask Nelson to spec one), springs & pushrods, 4l80e with Transgo shift kit, Detroit True Trac or similar posi, Nelson SD tune and a lot of tires!!

Or you could do a 6.0 swap with some dished pistons, forged internals and boost the piss out of it!
