    Question For you differential guys:

When I had my old Z71 I found a good deal on a front and rear ring & pinion set. But they weren't made for IFS so I just left them laying around. Now I am wondering if the rear one will fit my 2003 Silverado's 8.6" rear end. I have been looking online and they all say 8.5" and 8.6" like they are interchangeable. If they are interchangeable, how will I know what differential they were made for and will it hurt that they have gotten rusty from sitting?

The holes in the stock ring gear on mine are left hand thread and the holes in this 4.10 ring gear here are right hand, other than that, will it be okay?

Some say the 8.5" and 8.625" are the same but I still disagree. 8.5" has left hand ring gear bolt threads.

It's an 8.625" if the 2003 has the stock axle.

I mean how do I know what this other set here is? This is what I know about it:
    It is a 4.10 set
    There are 12 bolt holes
The 12 holes are right hand thread
(I think) they are some GM set.

They're from a 12-bolt if they have 12 ring gear bolts holes.
