    HPT or EFIlive?

No one around here tunes! So looks like I might as well give it a try, I know most of you guys use HPT and I noticed it is cheaper and I'm sure you guys will help me out but, anyone use EFIlive? I've heard it's easier to pick up on and a lot more explanatory

I have EFI Live..although i havent studied the tuning part alot yet it is helpful becuase Justin at blackbear is top of his game at tuning ..he is a EFI LIve instructor and if you buy it you can log your truck and send it to him and he can tell you how to tweak it or he will do it for ya and tell you what he did..IMO worth it.

Just remember that if Allen is going to spend time helping you out and fixing things you break you will need to buy a tune. However at this point several us are getting better with HPT so we can help out as well. The thing is nobody is going to set your tune up for you b/c that would be stealing Allens work. We will however try to answer your questions and give advice on your tune.

Depending on how seriously you want to learn hpt why dont you just get a mail order from allen? You were planning on coming down for a few days for the race right? SO get him to live tune it then. B a bit more expensive but you wouldnt have the guess work.

True, but like I said nobody, and I mean nobody around here tunes or even knows there's something beyond handhelds. Hell, our first speed shop is just opening soon. The only one within a 2.5 hour drive, so I figured get HPT or EFIlive, read study learn practise and eventually make a couple bucks.

I have both and I use EFILive 98% of the time. I just like it better. Suits my need better, with all the FI tuning I do. No need to buy or use extra credits for custom OS's and you can send your tune to other people with EFILive and they can help you make changes and send it back to you without them have to license to your tune.

I would check out EFI LIve & HP Tuner forums and see which one may suit your needs

FWIW, Tuning software and learning to tune is the single best mod I did with my truck. Has let me take advantage of every mod I have ever done to it. If you want to know more about EFILive, just PM me

I think I'll be going with HPT for 2 reasons. Initial cost and it seems to be more popular so to me that means better support
