Looks like Ill be picking up a 5.3 for the '76 tomorrow, or Sat. I was planning to go carb'ed with a TH350, but I like the idea of 3 trucks with full parts interchangability (tranny in the z71 excepted) and since I have an extra TB verter, Im thinking bout getting a 4l60e built. I was still planning on running a carb, and a 4l60 stand alone controller, also tossing around the idea of using the PCM only to control the trans. Been doing a lot of brainstorming the past couple of days, and now Im thinking I may come out better (financially, and reliability) going with the EFI Victor Jr, 4l60e, and the PCM/harness. I have HPtuners, so tuning wont be a big issue. Main thing Im thinking is with the cost of the trans controller, and the MSD, or Edelbrock stand alone ignition system, and the cost of the LSx to TH350 converter, I may come out cheaper going all Gen III with the victor jr intake.
The truck is just going to be used for cruising. Cruising the coast, few local car shows etc. No (planned) racing, or daily driving, just a toy!
