    Another 5.3 swap in progress.

Well I started my next swap project. It all starts like this. Last year I bought a smashed 1999 RCSB Silverado 4x4 for $400. I put a radiator in it and straped the hood down and that was my winter DD. Runs great but the body and frame were just too far gone. So this year I find this 1990 OBS RCLB K1500 for $500. The 4.3 is locked up so it is a perfect canidate for a swap. So far I have just been reading up on eveything and I started the removal and cleaning process. So here are a few pics. I am sure I will have questions so bear with me, and thanks everyone who has posted there knowledge on the conversion process for me to learn from.

    Thanks.

Well I dont have any pics from this weekend, but I made a little progress. I swapped the wheels and tires. I removed the ugly running boards and mudflaps. The I started sorting out the wiring on the 1990 by removing the TBI harness and cleaning up the wires I will need to keep. So far so good. I cant wait to get this truck running.

Well I have made some progress on the truck this week. The engine and transmission is in and everything almost fell into place with those adapter plates. I did have to move the trans crossmember forward about an inch. Mounted the radiator, fuse box, pcm, air box, and coolant resv. Swaped out the fuel pump and replaced some rusted brake and fuel lines. Everything is going real smooth so far. I have some of the wiring left to do, but most of it is done. Now I am waiting on a manual shift transfer case, PCM tune, and AN fuel lines and we will be ready to fire. I have some pics at home so I will post them when I can. I can't wait to get this thing running. Archery deer season just started 3 days ago so I am need to get my hunting truck done.

Here are a few pics of the truck so far. It can on alternative fuel for a few seconds so thats a good sign. I still need my fuel lines and transfer case and I think I am set.

I havent posted much progress on this because I have been driving the truck for the last two weeks! Everything went great the truck runs good after a quick tune from a local tuner. It is just 2wd now until I swap the auto-trac case for a manual transfer case, but I have someone who will trade me so I just have to get that done. I will try to post some pics and stuff up again later once I finish cleaning everything up.
