The best advice I have ever heard:... Only take B( . Y . )ST advice from someone that is CURRENTLY running a turbo setup close to, or bigger than what you want......

Spoolin is running 18 lbs right now over on PT.net with an STS. Somewhere up in the 6XX hp range. Course that is with a fully built motor.
You will have fun with either one...or for that matter and FI/power adder is going to be fun.
The biggest advantage STS has over trick is intake air temperature. STS has VERY low IAT's, even under boost and the highest IAT I have ever seen with my intercooled STS kit is about 15 degrees over ambient air temperature. With cooler IAT's you don't have to worry about knock or ping nearly as much as a front mount and you can extract a really good amount of power out of every pound of boost. If you ask me, the STS kit is a lot safer to run, way easier to install and I can vouch for the AWESOME power the kit makes.
Running a meth kit with my front mount has given me about the same IATs...about 10 or so over ambient under full boost. I've heard stories about SOME STS kits having problems with the oil pump, but I don't think that's the case with everyone.

Line-X, Pace Edwards Full Metal Jackrabbit bedcover
I can vouch for the low IAT's on my truck. Sometimes they get high in traffic, but its never really that bad. I really enjoy the power my kit makes and is going to make on my truck
that is true about the oil pump issue. the guy that owned this before me had problems with the STS oil pump until he upgraded, and I have yet to have any problems with it on my truck *knock on wood*
