    Tell me about e fans

What do they do and why, what don't they do, are they pricey, are there limitations, do they work better in certain apps or environments, I assume you remove the stock fan? Anything you want to share, fill me in.

Need fans + harness + retune + high output alternator.
Or the alternator and buy a set of perma cool fans. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=PRM%2D19517&N=700 +4294924641+115&autoview=sku

This is what i have and they work very well with only 3 wires to hook up. Not to mention it keeps things kool even with a turbo under the hood.

I've got two Hayden efans and they do fine. Probably a third of the price as Flex-O-Lite. Not trying to be argumentative. Just stating facts.

Or you can get the factory unit here:

eBay Motors: 05 06 TAHOE YUKON SUBURBAN ESCALADE ELECTRIC FANS OEM (item 130241277703 end time Jul-30-08 14:36:29 PDT)

And a ready made harness from Nelson here:

    Nelson Performance - Products

That's what I did on my truck - works well. You will need a re-tune to activate pin 42 in the blue PCM connector.

Yes, we build a custom shroud that just drops in and uses factory brackets and botls to hold in place. Dual 14" fans, 1 keeped my 6.0L cool and ac working fine.
I have a freind with a set on his 6.0L 4x4 and pulleys a travel trailer, no problems.
I would set one fan just to come on, and the other set on a toggle/ac clutch switch.
About a 1 hour install or so.

We documented a 22hp increase on our 5.3 test truck.

In the world of mods this sounds like a fairly inexpensive mod with some good results. In my world of I'm trying to make mods to improve my mpg, it sounds like it might not give enough of a return to make it worth it, even at 4+ bucks a gallon it would take quite a few tanks with a 2-3 mpg improvement before it would pay for itself. Thanks for the feedback, it's on my wish list, but prolly not gonna happen for a while.
