Thumbs down Belt alignment issues with LS1 pump

So im finishing up the LS6 intake sawp on my 5.3. I bought a rebuilt LS1 water pump off ebay. I got it tonight and stuck it on. The pulley sits in waaayyy too far for it to be able to work with the 5.3 accessories, I can only get like half of the belt to wrap around it. Is this a common problem or did I just buy the wrong damn pump.

Yeah, the LS1 style pumps and accessories sit in towards the block a little tighter than the truck accessories do. When doing an LS1/LS6 intkae swap, you have to get new acessories or do new brackets to get them to line up correctly with the belt. I would be slightly weary gapping the pulley--I wouldn;t want it to spin off on me! I would try and get new brackets for everything--but you can gap it with washers/shims if you want...

Well, I just spent a ****load of money on a new alternator, idler pulley relocator, and AC compressor for the truck accessories. The guy in the LS6 intake swap write up kept all his truck accessories. What kind of water pump did he use?

He probably put a truck pulley on the LS1 water pump.

If you don't want to go through that work, you can get a water pump off of one of the new body style trucks. They have a different outlet on top that should clear the LS6 manifold/throttle body and will already be spaced correctly.

Yeah I figured he did. I just bought a 3 jaw puller set off ebay that goes up to 8 in. Hopefully that will do it
