    Think I finally found a 6.0

Well, it's not written in stone yet, but I think I found a solid 6.0 that's running. Found a guy that said he bought it for his "hot rod" and just never put it in. It's got 37,000 miles on it and the guy said its running...said its just sitting on a pallet in is garage. He wants $2000 for it. I told him I had a 4.8L and he said if I gave him $1500 and the 4.8L the 6.0 would be mine...What do you guys think about the deal?

    It's a LQ4...There's only a 10hp difference between the two isn't there?

I say go for it as long as he is willing to stand behind his word that it runs.

yeah 2k is quite a bit. You can find an lq4 on carparts.com for like 1200 with low miles. Also theres a guy that just got quoted for 2k for an entire lq4 and the transmission. With everything

What are your future plans for it? If you're looking to go FI, then that might be the engine for you. If not, then the LQ9 might be better for you. $2000 is a little steep though for an LQ4.

I found another engine at a salvage yard, and it was $500, but the truck it was in caught on fire so the top was messed up of the engine...I guess if the block, pistons, crank, and cam are still good it might be worth it. I really just want to find a solid, running 6.0 that's reasonable. What do you guys think about me just trying to build my 4.8?

Hell, go buy the 6.0L for $500 from the burned out truck. Everything that burned or melted down can be taken off the top of yours and put on the 6.0L. I say do it--that way you save $1500 and get the chance to strip that thing down and go through it and clean it up and what not... Use the $1500 to pay for the mods to the 6.0L!!!! <--Best option, IMHO...
