    Engine swap done!!

    Hey guys,

I just finished my engine swap last night and it started up first try. But i have some little fixes i need to do, one problem is its throwing me a PO443 dtc code also the a/c turns on but its not cold at all. I think they both are probly related. Does anyone have any idea?

I triple checked all the plugs and there all plug in firmly.

    Thanks Brandon

if not mistaken, po443 has to do with the evap system which you can have turned off in a tune. the other sounds like the conpressor is not getting power or signal to come on ...

A/c turns on: the compressor clutch activates and the compressor is pumping, the fan turns on, the defrost blows out window vents only, could you be more specific?

1.) P0443 is Evaporative Emission control system purge valve circuit malfunction. By the way, it is the number "0" and not the letter "O". Did you properly hook up your EVAP system? Not many people do when they do LSX swaps. If that is the case, do as skeet recommended and turn it off in the tune. If you don't know what EVAP is than you do NOT have it and you should turn it off in the tune.

2.) Is there any voltage at the compressor when you command it to come on at the a/c head unit?

So you stick your head under the hood, engine on and have an assistant set a/c to MAX or RECIRC or whatever and you HEAR and see the a/c clutch engage?

    1. How long between cycle times does it stay off?
    2. How long does it stay on for?
    3. Does the temperature get really hot when you change the temp knob away from cool?
    4. Does the temperature change when you say, shoot the air only out your window defrost?
    5. Did you poke any holes in your condenser behind the radiator? If you have a hole somewhere and ALL the freon is gone, your low pressure switch should prevent the compressor from self destructing due to lack of PAG oil.
    6. If you have a temperature blend door being funny around the heater core, it could pour boiling hot lava air all over you even though it got cooled by the evaporator core just because the heater core gets it last. whoomp-whoomp.

Ok i checked the freon i have all my freon. The heater works just fine, it gets very hot. I will get someone to turn my a/c on so i can hear it after work today to see if the clutch is engaging, which im pretty sure it is because when i turn on the a/c i can feel the trucks rpms change.

The condensor usally drips condensation right? well i left the a/c on for 15min and it wasnt even cold. Whats the temperature blend door and where is it?

    Thanks

Uh...when you swapped everything, did you keep the original A/C compressor connected? Did you ever take it off the bracket? If you didn't diconnect it, then it might need a recharge. The A/C compressor has two connectors that you need to plug into it. One to the compressor itself and the second is the A/C clutch. Make sure both are properly connected. Go back and double check all of the electrical grounds to the front and back of the motor.

The P0443 code can be thrown by a improperly tightened gas cap or if the breather tube on the gas tank neck that goes to the side of the bed at the fuel door is not secured. The code also may be thrown by the fact that you did not connect the EVAP system and the PCM is either wanting to open or close the vent solenoid--but if it isn't hooked up, it cannot give a signal to the soleniod. And if not return signal is sent, the PCM freaks out and it results in a CEL. Can you quickly have your PCM tuned to turn off the EVAP?
