with the more complicated wiring ( CAN bus) . I am on the way to swap a '07 drive train into my '97 2dr 4wd Tahoe. Any experiences would be very very welcome

Yes, I made the conversion in my 97 GMC. I used an 02 LS1 converted to LS6 though but basically the same swap. You're from Germany huh? I'm german too but speak very little. Our last name was Von Merheim and changed over to Merrem when my grandparents came over to the states. Anyways enough there but it's a great swap and I can help you out with the wiring schematics. There's plenty of info at the top of LSX conversions to get you going.

John at Speartech swapped an LS2/6L80E setup into an '01 truck. You might want to check out his post. He can help you out with anything needed to make the swap work for the Tahoe. Most likely the easiest way to get it to work is to run the new pcm to control the engine/trans and keep the old pcm to control the gauges, a/c, etc...

Make sure to post up some pics of your progress. What engine/trans will you be running?
I'd ditch the old pcm and just rune the newer pcm, it will control everything the old PCM did. I'm running the 02 pcm alone and everything works like factory. You can run both, just alot of clutter. No disrespect 350ss, there's just easier ways.

I agree with what you're saying Nitrous, maybe I misunderstood the original question. I'm assuming that by GenIV he means an engine/trans combo that uses the newer E38 pcm that the signals for the gauges/ac control and other things are sent over the can bus. This means you wouldn't be able to use an '02 pcm that has the correct outputs to run gauges/ac/etc. If it's a GenIII motor then of course you can ditch the old black box pcm and run the newer styls ('02 for example) pcm...that's what I did too
As far as running two pcms being alot of clutter, I agree, but there must be a reason that John Speartech went that way.
running the '02 ECM seems to be easier than what I intend to do. The engine I have choosen is a '07 RPO Code LMG, that's flex fuel and cast iron block. I try to run only the '07 ECU. I am swapping the 4L60E the same time and I opted for the following parts: engine + tranny, engine harness, ECU, Trans Control module w wiring, ETC pedal assembly, instrument cluster w wiring, fuel pump assembly w wiring. I like the thought of using the '07 instrument cluster with all its gauges and the driver information center. What might be missing is the BCM but i will try to dig this out.
I may have some trouble with the 2 CAN bus system but we will see. I am electronic engineer working for Bosch Rexroth over here so we will see how far it will get me. By the way I managed to get my hands on a complete set of wiring diagrams for that Tahoe..

He's putting a 5.3L (flexfuel and active fuel management) and 6L80E trans into his '95 Tahoe and is going to try to adapt the can bus system to his tahoe also. He's an EE as well so I'm sure you guys could help each other get this figured out without having to keep an older pcm to run the gauges etc...
