    Ls1 Engine Swap

Hey im about to do my ls1 long block swap and i was wondering when i change the oil pans am i going to have to change the oil pick up tubes? Isnt the ls1 pick up tube shorter than the trucks? Also if i do have to change the pick up tube can i do it with out changing the oil pump? One last question with my 4.8 i wanted to change it to a 5.3 do i just swap the crank out? rods and crank? or just the rods?

Thanks alot guys wish me luck on the swap!

Yes you will have to change the pickup tube and the windage tray. It is not necessary to change oil pumps.

Changing a 4.8 to a 5.3 requires a whole new rotating assembly. The cranks are different strokes, and the rods are different lengths. Even the pistons are different. The 4.8 has flat top pistons and the 5.3 has dished pistons.

No, with the pan off you can easily get to the bolt that holds the pickup tube in place. As said above, replace the pickup tube o-ring while you're in there. Be VERY careful when you put it back together to make sure the new o-ring is not pinched or positioned wrong.
