cam and head swap soon thoughts

ok all I am getting close to some upgrades to the 5.3 in my 68 SWB. I am going to do this on as much of a budget as I can but if course would like to do more. First I have a LPE GT2-5 cam this is a 220 220 .566 .566 112, to help this out some I am going to get my heads milled to get the compression up some I am going to study to see how much.
What I am going to need is the usual cam install parts along with head gaskets and new bolts. Where is the best place to get these things? Do they have a kit for these installs?
I have the springs taken care of and will need to get pushrods once I have the heads milled.
    Thanks
    Dave

If you mill stock 5.3L heads, it takes about .005" milling of the block deck to remove 1cc of volume. You may also want to consider having your stock heads "cleaned up", polished, and having a 3-angle valve job done while you have the heads at the machine shop. You should look into getting PRC springs with the cam. And then have the pushrods specified once your heads are done. But make sure the PR are hardened. Also, get some ARP head studs--they are slightly more $$$, but you'll be glad you got them.
Along with all of this, the type of head gasket also plays into your CR--a stock compressed head gasket is measured at .054 vs. Felpro gaskets compress to a .040...
You can get the valve springs from several vendors around...I would recommend Texas Speed and Performance.
To be honest, I would contact Richard at WCCH. He is THE best resource for specifying head information...

Thanks for the reply, I am bringing this back to the top since I am about ready. I am going to try to get a baseline dyno run in this weekend and get started on the tear down.
First my stock compression is 9.4 based on 61 cc heads, I want to raise this to around 10.4 or so unless you guys tell me different. so from the info from tx above and my compresion calculator I need to go with 54 cc head volume and the thinner felpro gasket to net 10.5. do you agree?
if that is the case I need to mill .035 off again based on the .005" off to net 1 cc change stated above.

Now I assume Allen wont have any problems tuning for this? I will check with him as I will need a retune but maybe he will see this.
I will get a mild clean up on the heads while the machine shop has them.

I guess I will go to my local parts store to get parts (gaskets, bolts...)

I will need head gaskets what about all the front end gaskets?
thanks guys I hope this nets me some good gains.

do you all have part numbers for the head gaskets and head bolts? I will probably go with Felpro. I tried my local autozone and they priced them 45 bucks each, I thought that was a bit steep. Is it?

Looks like TXSpeed has a kit, I will call them and find out if it is for a 5.3...
