With a cam and headers what would this combo be capable of HP wise? Naturally aspirated.

LQ9... no doubt the better of the two... power & torque... STOCK as well as mod'd.

But why not an LS1, say it will be a daily driver? It will also see very little track time. Is LQ9 that much better?

Torque curve is higher. If he's like me, I still like to tow (when I have to). Not that the LS1 wouldn't hold it's own, but always better to have more than less... especially when I can find LQ9s at or about the same price as LS1s... but it depends on the mileage and seller.

If I were to do a swap again, it'd be a 6.0L or bigger (408 sounds nice).

What if he did a cam and torque converter swap to get the higher torque curve? And headers. All of this with a Nelson Tune. Is the torque curve higher on the LQ9 because of the truck intake vs. the LS1 intake? I am just asking because I am learning. Also what if you have no need to tow? Where are the LQ9's available? An LQ9 with a 4L80E would be a nice combo.

Or do you mean the LS1 torque is higher up in the rpm band? I would think the LQ9 would have more torque down lower for towing and or moving more weight and bigger tires.

What year did the LQ9 start? In what vehicles were they in?
