Thread: Info needed on PCM controlled fans...

    Okay, is there a certain MPH these fans will kick off as if you're cruising pretty much anywhere over 40mph I'd think the airflow would be sufficient to keep the A/C condensor and Rad fine?

    Do they come on at low speed initially or only full blast? If only full, is it possible to wire one to come on at a certain temp or when the A/C goes on and the other after so many more degrees?

    OR could I have the PCM switch them between a Series and Parallel load going between 6 and 12v for the speeds?

    Hell, I have that VSC now...should I just keep that?

    Aside from that, I'd like to run my fans off the PCM as soon as I get a pin to ground them.

    I know, I know lots of q's but I'd like to have them run exactly the same way that they were on my '98 Z28 I had...

    Mine kick off around 40 or so MPH and turn on when slowing down to 30 or less.

    They always come on low speed first. They switch between a series for low speed then parallel for high speed. This requires 3 relays and two grounds to apply the relays. My Z28 PCM has two but I think the trucks only have one control for the fans.


    You could use the VSC hooked to the PCM. Then the PCM would trigger the VSC to turn on the fans for AC and preset coolant temps and the VSC will act as your relays. Also the VSC turns on one fan at a time to keep the surge down when turning on the fans.

    Does the PCM dictate when the fanz kick on and off at certain MPH?

    I have no problem with the wiring and such, electrical stuff is a snap for me. So I could wire up 3 relays.

    Do ya perhaps have a schemtic of that wiring?

    I have a schematic of that set up. The PCM does control the fans at a given MPH. I'll get that schematic scaned in and post it.
