    Should I change gear ratio?

After completing my 4.3 to 6.0 swap, I got to looking at my rearend gears. I found out they were 3.08 gears. Probably not the best for what I'm trying to do. I heard they are a highway gear. It takes off pretty well, but I think it could do much better with some different gears. I have the stock 5 speed in it, and don't want to get too low of a gearing. It's a daily driver. From what I have been reading, 3.73 or 4.10 is a choice set of gears, but they are all with automatic trans. Don't know if it would be different with manual. Any suggestions?

yea man i went from 3:23s to a 4:10 and it was like bolting on a blower you gotta drive it around for a few days and let the gears heat up and seat then let that bitch rip, and at 70mph your running abour 2100 rpms, my truck is pretty much stock for engine mods and i run 14.9 to 15.2 depending on weather and stuff so yea get some gears dude

You guys are running 2100 rpms at 70 mph? I'm running just shy of 2000 rpms at 70 mph. Maybe my transmission is lower geared.

my over all tire is 31.25 inches, and if your transmission is lower geared then you'll run at a higher rpm, i didnt really notice much on the change of the rpm's as much as i could feel it in the torque once you hit 75-80 it raps quick and your gonna top out at about 122. but who cares you'll be through the 1/4 by then

Sounds about identical to mine. The t56 is in my future too, but the 5 speed will have to do right now. I can't find any good deals on them, too many people want them. Thought a set of 3.73 gears would wake it up a little. I hear you get better gas mileage too. I could see that happening in the city, not sure of the highway tho.
